Covid-19 Adjustments

Just like our daily lives, the Piggyback Dash will look a little different this year. We are passionate about providing this event to the community and providing scholarships to local seniors. However, we are also committed to the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and spectators. We are working with the local agencies to ensure we are following all necessary protocols. Please read through the procedures below. These are subject to change.

Early Packet Pick-Up

  • We provide early packet pick-up on September 24-25. We strongly encourage you to choose one of these days to pick up your packet to cut down on unnecessary crowds on race morning.
  • All participants picking up packets are asked to wear a face mask/covering when picking up your packet.

Race Day Packet Pick-Up

  • We will be adding additional lines/volunteers to help limit the crowd at packet pickup and to get you through the line as quick as possible.
  • We will have a separate line for those that still need to register.
  • Please limit loitering around the packet pick-up area. Grab your packet and begin warming up if needed.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the tables.
  • Please maintain social distance while standing in line.

Aid Stations

  • We will have our typical 3 aid stations (2 for 5K) stocked with water for all participants.
  • These stations will be self serve. There will be 2-3 volunteers with masks and gloves to make sure it is stocked and cleaned. However, they will not be handing you water.
  • Please dispose of your cup/bottle in the trash bins available shortly after the aid station.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available here.

Restrooms

  • We will have 2 port-a-potties available at start/finish area. Please use the hand sanitizer prior to entering and exiting.
  • Please maintain social distance while standing in line.


Start

  • All participants are required to wear a face mask/covering before and after the race.
  • We will have spots marked at the start line to indicate 6ft and to help spread people out at the beginning of the race.
  • Please be courteous and respectful to other participants. If you do not intend to be in the front of the pack then please do not line up near the front. If you intend to walk then please line up near the back at the start.

While Racing

  • Participants do not need to wear a face mask during the race.
  • Please try to maintain social distance. When passing others try to give some space between you and the other participant.

Piggyback Option

  • This is a key portion to our event so we did not want to suspend it completely for this year. In order to keep this we are limiting it to only members of the same household.
  • The person being carried does not have to be a registered participant. However, if they are not registered then they will need to have a signed waiver. Waivers will be available at packet pick-up and with volunteers at the bottom of the hill on race day.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the bottom of the hill.

Finish

  • As you cross the finish line please stay in a single file line in the order you finished so volunteers can easily remove the tag from your bib.
  • All participants are required to wear a face mask/covering before and after the race.

Post Race Refreshments

  • Bottled water and snacks will be available to participants.

Spectators

  • Spectators are also asked to wear a face mask/covering and to practice social distance when possible.

Feel Sick?

  • If you feel sick on race day or in the days prior we urge you to not attend. If this happens then please email piggyback.dash@gmail.com
